As your buyer’s agent I will work for you through each step from our initial meeting to closing to make sure that there is a successful conclusion to your home buying journey. Buying a home can be a challenging experience-- deciding on what kind of house you are looking for and how much you can afford to pay, looking at properties on the market, making an offer (and counteroffers), signing a sales contract, getting financing, and settlement, at which time you become the owner of your new home. I will negotiate to make sure that you get the best possible price and terms.
Whether you are buying your first home or have purchased a home before, there are two basic steps to start the process:
1. Find out how much you can afford to pay for a home. A financial institution such as a bank or mortgage company can make that determination for you. A pre-approval gives you a good idea of the type of mortgage you will qualify for and the price range of homes you can afford. To get pre-approved, you'll need to work with a mortgage lender. A pre-approval can help you:
2. Decide what kind of home you want to buy. What are you looking for in a house, including location?
Before you start house hunting, decide on what you really need. Then list the features that would be nice to have. Be realistic. Looking for a home takes time, so focus on what's important to you. After looking at lots of homes, the line between "I need a garage" and "I want a garage" can get very blurry. Many people focus more on what they'd like to have instead of focusing on what they actually need--that can mean they may pass up a home that meets their needs in hopes of finding one that meets their wants.
